Correlhã Parish, in Ponte de Lima, is home to one of the most impressive churches dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte, built between the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. Several historians highlight the unusual and peculiar character of the type of design of all of the sculptures in the chancel. If you climb the impressive staircase, you can immediately see the tripartite façade of the church. The side naves are slightly inset relative to the central body, which has a coat of arms. On the inside, the altarpiece of the chancel displays peculiar figures almost gigantic the Virgin and São João dos Anjos, in an impressive theatrical representation of the death of Jesus and of Mary. The chapel gives access to the gallery, so that the faithful can visit the tomb of Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte. Next to the choir, take a look at the paintings of hell and the heavenly court. Before you leave, don't forget to take a stroll in the gardens of the shrine, where a beautiful lake reflects the different shades of the trees.
