Do you like being in touch with nature, walking and getting to know a little more about the prehistoric heritage of this region? Then this is the right place! Classified as a national monument since 1910, the Antas da Serra do Soajo constitute a set of a few dozen megalithic funeral monuments located in the highest areas of the parish town. The 10 monuments locale in the Megalithic Nucleus of Mezio are the best known and most easily accessible, including the famous "Anta do Mezio" (Tumulus 3), the most well preserved and known that still preserves vestiges of the primitive tumulus, burial chamber, slab cover (hat) and the corridor, but also the monument called "Tumulus" 6, scientifically excavated between 1998 and 2001, now restored and can be visited; these monuments are over 5000 years old and are spread over several kilometres. Make sure to take the path and discover the magnificence of these prehistoric relics while enjoying the lovely surrounding countryside! After travelling through time it is time to replenish your energies and, in Arcos de Valdevez, there's no shortage of places to sample delicious cuisine of the Arcos region; the lamb mamão da serra or the barrosã steak are two options to be taken into account.
