Once you have reached the pine forest you will find Lage das Fogaças, between Chã das Carvalheiras and the village of Lanhelas, take a deep breath: nature in all its splendour awaits you! And as if that weren't enough already, one can toast with history! The Lage das Fogaças has surfaces with rock carvings dating from the Bronze Age, discovered between the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century, by researcher Abel Van Wyk. Classified as a national monument, the slab [laje] has around 250m2 of surface and presents geometric and zoomorphic figures possibly carved in different periods. This archaeological site falls into the generic typology of rock engravings in Group I - "Old" and “Classic" – characteristic of the peninsular Northwest Bronze age.
