Leisure dock and pontoon of Senhora da Cabeça
Portos, Marinas, Docas e Pontões de Recreio
This facility is located on the river Minho, in the parish of Cristelo-Côvo, a town linked to fishermen and traditional lamprey and shad fishing. The typical boats of the area, known as carocho, still operate on this quay.
It is a floating river structure, resting on piles supported by 5 pillars and equipped with 10 berths for boats up to 6 metres long. The pontoon is connected to land by a ramp that ends in an access door. There is no surveillance, no light and no water.
Navigation on the river is carried out by identifying the meanders and the geographical coordinates of Oliveira, Carneiro and Ovelhas, the river's most important shallows. Special attention should also be paid to canoeists and rowers, who abound in this area. Vigilance should also be stepped up for possible unidentified floating objects such as tree trunks swept into the river when it rains heavily.
