The Ponte de Lima Municipality is rich in natural beauty. To get to know it in total communion with nature, there is nothing like a stroll along the Ecovia... On foot or by bike, start the trail in the heart of Ponte de Lima town. On the right bank of the River Lima, next to the Church of Saint António da Torre Velha, next to the Roman bridge, the ecovia forks in two directions. Downstream, you can head for the protected landscape area of the lagoons of Bertiandos and São Pedro de Arcos or go upstream to the Refoios de Lima Parish. With a length of almost 15 kilometres, the ecovia is signposted and has information panels. It is a path with a low degree of difficulty, along the river and without steep slopes. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to observe the river Lima and all of the flora and fauna associated with this ecosystem. Going from Ponte de Lima to the protected landscape area of the lagoons of Bertiandos and São Pedro de Arcos, you will also pass by the Arnado Park, the monument to fado singer, Amália Rodrigues, the International Gardens Festival and the Bertiandos Manor. If you choose to go to Refoios Parish, you will be able to enjoy the picnic parks and the wonderful view of the River Lima from the observation point near the tributary River Labruja, among other spots you will have the opportunity to discover.
On the left bank, you can take the ecovia, which stretches for about 30 km. On a walk beside the River Lima, don’t miss the Lugar da Passagem and you can enjoy the plains of Correlhã or, in the opposite direction, the small river beaches, the beautiful Gemieira mills and the observation point near the River Crasto, a tributary of the River Lima.
