The Sanctuary of Nosso Senhor do Socorro, in the parish of Labruja, Ponte de Lima, hosts one of the most popular pilgrimages in the region, in the first weekend of July. Built in 1773, it features two bell towers, a profusely decorated facade and a front staircase that, as a whole, stand out in the landscape for its monumentality. Before entering, take the opportunity to admire the two statues of Saint Peter and Pope Clement XIV, the staircase surrounded by statues of biblical figures and artificial cave with the image of Abel, and the Desert Fountain. Inside, an important set of gilt carvings from the last phase of Rococo stands out. If you visit the sanctuary during the Festa do Senhor do Socorro (popular celebration) you will get to know a true Minho pilgrimage, with its folklore, traditional balls and Sunday procession.
