On the Way of St. James, the lands of Geraz do Lima perfectly represent the typical Minho countryside. It consists of three parishes: Moreira de Geraz do Lima, Santa Leocádia and Santa Maria. And in all of them you can see the green fields and the vines growing on terraces. Agriculture continues to be one of the main subsistence activities in Geraz, concentrated mainly on wine and cereal growing. Here, the memory of other times has not been erased. Before the construction of the bridge which connects the two banks of the river Lima, goods were transported by boat, at the “place of passage”. From this period, the “mark of the passage” still remains intact, on the left bank of the Lima, on a large granite stone where the rates, in cash or in kind, payable for the crossing are carved. Also of note are the churches of Santa Maria, Santa Leocádia and the Carriage Museum. In Geraz do Lima, you can breathe pure air and the intense green dominates the landscape. It is the perfect place to relax, away from all the hustle and bustle and noise of the city.
