It would be unfair leaving the Town of Arts without visiting the place that stands for its name – the Museu de Arte da Bienal.
Maybe you’ve heard about the Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira, which has been an event of reference at the artistic and cultural level, both in Portugal and abroad. In such a way that nowadays, and along with the Cervo, it is known as a symbol for the town.
The Museu da Bienal was precisely created to house and preserve the vast collection that has resulted from the Bienal since its first edition, in 1978, to present day. Since its inauguration in 2005, the most renowned national and international artists have been represented here.
If you’d like to learn something more about the exhibited artworks, you can ask for a guided tour with contemporary art experts, or simply an audio guide.
Also, don’t miss the Fórum Cultural de Vila Nova de Cerveira, the Bienal's main stage and house of the museum, as well as of other art exhibitions, lectures and concerts. It won’t be hard finding the perfect activity for your mood!
