It is easy to find the Nossa Senhora da Lapa Church as the square where it is located also has the same name. Set in a bustling urban area, this baroque-style church is attended by many faithful who come here every day to pray. The exact date when building started on the church is unknown, but it was probably between 1750 and 1760. There is more certainty about the date of its conclusion, in 1767, designed by the talented architect, André Soares Braga. What is most surprising about this monument is, without doubt, the height of the octagonal body of the nave and the surprising dynamism of the outer lines. In the interior, gilt stands out, in contrast with the clarity of the stuccoes, as well as the low, rectangular shapes of the vestibule and the chancel, in rococo style. Just sit and appreciate, in complete silence, the details of the decoration, until you get your breath back to return to the hustle and bustle of the streets and to discover all the charms of the town.
