This sublime Baroque church has lodged, since long ago, one of the largest and most important brotherhoods in the country - the Real Confraria do Divino Espírito Santo. In the middle of the 20th century, this brotherhood counted with more than 240 thousand brothers spread throughout the country and the whole world!
This curious construction, rebuilt in the 18th century, deserves a thorough visit. Wander through its fine yard and pay attention to all the interesting architectonic details, where it stands out the double granite stairway in imperial style, some nice fountains and the magnificent Calvary built in the 19th century. Formerly, the local fair took place in the area right next to the chapel. If you close your eyes, it won’t be hard imagining the traders shouting out their products.
Then visit the inside, where you'll be amazed at the pipe organ placed next to the epistle. Also, take a closer look at the neoclassic retables and the Eucharistic throne.
To finish your visit, go back to the harmonious walled yard, where you'll be able to enjoy the shadow of the trees and the benches to take a rest while admiring the charming surrounding landscape.
