Lindoso Village, in Ponte da Barca, reconciles history, heritage and nature in perfect harmony. In the past, it played an important part in the defence of the Portuguese border. Today, it is a tourist destination not to be missed, with points of interest such as the Lindoso Castle and the largest and oldest group of granaries in Portugal, with more than 50 examples which can be dated to the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These granaries reveal the importance of collective work in the mountain communities. The castle walls offer a splendid view over the Lima valley and Spain. Before your visit, make sure you go to the Gate of the Peneda-Gerês National Park in Lindoso and find out all about what is to be seen in this region.
