In the heart of the Alto Minho, more specifically in the village of Ponte da Barca, we find the Interpretative Centre Fernão de Magalhães, which pays homage to one of the greatest navigators of all time, believed to be a native of the municipality. The Interpretive Centre is divided into three thematic areas and focuses on the dissemination of the region's rich archaeological and landscape heritage, using explanatory panels and interactive images. Highlight, of course, for the room dedicated to Fernão Magalhães, where we can learn about his life path and follow his travels through an interactive globe. Take the opportunity to get to know the historic centre of this friendly village, with emphasis on the Stone Pillory, the Pombaline-style Market, the Bridge over the Lima River, the Jardim dos Poetas (the Poets’ Garden) and the Mother and Misericórdia churches.
